The ALiEn2 and ALiEn2 Expert has a set of built in features that can be used to track the wear and tear on our plungers. This tracks both the number of arrivals and the distance travelled.
Plunger Statistics Log
Number of Arrivals
Each time that a plunger arrival is detected, the number of arrivals is incremented. This is used to track the number of surface impacts of the plunger.
Distance Travelled
Each time that a plunger arrival is detected, the distance travelled is incremented by 2 x Well Depth. This is used to try and predict the plunger wear.
Reset Time
This is the date/time of the last log reset that was done either locally by the operator in the plunger log or remotely by SCADA.
Accessing /Resetting Plunger Statistics
Locally
The plunger statistics log is available on the local interface of the controller.
To access the plunger statistics:
- Press history.
- Scroll down to Plunger.
- Press select.
To reset the plunger statistics:
- Scroll down until you see Reset Log?
- Press select.
- Change to yes.
- Press select.
Once reset the Reset Time will be updated to the current date and time.
Remotely
The plunger statistics log can be accessed remotely via Modbus:
- Reset Time (register 3:0981 – 3:0986 stored in Date/Time format)
- Total Plunger Arrivals (register 3:0987 – 3:0988)
- Total Plunger Distance Travelled (register 3:0989 – 3:0990)
The plunger statistics log can be reset remotely via Mobus:
- Reset Plunger Statistics (register 0:0012) – Write 1 to reset
